Can I name my child Hadi?
Answer:
In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
The name Hādī is among the ninety-nine names of Allah Ta‘ālā. The ninety-nine names of Allah Ta‘ālā can be divided into three categories.
1) Those names which are the Ism al-dhāt (personal names) of Allah or portray an attribute that is exclusive to Allah. These names cannot be used as a name without adjoining the word ’ For example, the names Allah, Raḥmān, Razzāq, Ghaffār, etc.
2) Those names that portray an attribute that is not exclusive to Allah. Such names can be used without prefixing the word ’Abd before it, provided a precedent of being used for someone other than Allah can be found in either the Qur’an and Sunnah or the practice of the ummah. For instance, the names Karīm, ’Azīz, Rashīd, etc.
3) Those names that fall in the second category, but a precedent cannot be found for it being used for someone other than Allah. These names should not be usedwithout prefixing the word ‘Abd. The reason thereof is that by default, these names are exclusive to Allah. Therefore, for it be used for someone other than Allah, a proof is needed.In the absence of a precedent, one should adopt caution and not use these names without the word ’Abd. [i]
Accordingly, the name Hādī falls in the second category. Therefore, it will be permissible to name your child Hādī without the usage of ’ Abd. However, one should preferably name their child ‘Abdul Hādī to maintain utmost honour and respect for the names and attributes of Allah.

على غيره سبحانه وتعالى كالله والرحمان وما يجوز كالرحيم والكريم وذكر غير واحد من العلماء ان هذه الأسماء تنقسم قسمة أخرى الى ما لا يجوز اطلاقه

وجاز التسمية علي ورشيد من الأسماء المشتركة ويراد في حقنا غير ما يراد في حق الله تعالى لكن التسمية بغير ذلك في زماننا أولى لأن العوام يصغرونها عن النداء

قوله ( لكن التسمية إلخ ) قال أبو الليث لا أحب للعجم أن يسموا عبد الرحمن وعبد الرحيم لأنهم لا يعرفون تفسيره ويسمونه بالتصغير

وهذا مشتهر في زماننا حيث ينادون من اسمه عبد الرحيم وعبد الكريم أو عبد العزيز مثلا فيقولون رحيم وكريم وعزيز بتشديد ياء التصغير ومن اسمه عبد القادر قويدر وهذا مع قصده كفر
ففي المنية من ألحق أداة التصغير في آخر اسم عبد العزيز أو نحوه مما أضيف إلى واحد من الأسماء الحسنى إن قال ذلك عمدا كفر وإن لم يدر ما يقول ولا قصد له لم يحكم بكفره ومن سمع منه ذلك يحق عليه أن يعلمه اه

اسمائے حسنی میں بعض نام ایسے بھی ہیں جن کو خود قرآن و حدیث میں دوسرے لوگوں کے لئے بھی استعمال کیا گیا ہے، اور بعض وہ ہیں جن کو سوائے ﷲ تعالی کے اور کسی کے لَئے استعمال کرنا قرآن و حدیث سے ثابت نہیں- تو جن ناموں کا استعمال غیرﷲ کے لئے قرآن و حدیث سے ثابت ہے وہ نام تو اورون کے لئے بھی استعمال ہو سکتے ہیں۔۔۔۔ اور اسماَئے حسنی مین سے وہ نام جن کا غیر ﷲ کے لئے استعمال کرنا قرآن و حدیث سے ثابت نہیں وہ صرف ﷲ تعالی کے لئے مخصوص ہیں ان کو غیر الله کے لئے استعمال کرنا الحاد مذکور مین داخل اور ناجائز و حرام ہے
