Question:
Salam, I had to renew my nikkah due to certain circumstances my husband gave me talaaq-e-Bayaan, we are of hanafi sect so my parents said I don’t need a Wali and anyone can become my Wali as long as he is Muslim and of good nature. So my husbands friend became my Wali, is that acceptable or should I go to mosque myself and say “qabool hai” in front of the witnesses. Please help me.
Answer:
In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In principle, according to the Hanafi Madhab, a mature girl (Baligah) has the independent right to get married. She does not require the consent or representation of her Wali. [i]
Accordingly, in the enquired situation, it is permissible for you to send your husbands friend as your representative to get you married. There is no need for you to go to the Masjid yourself for the Nikah.

الجواب وباللّٰہ التوفیق:عاقل بالغ لڑکا لڑکی اگر شرائط نکاح کی رعایت کرتے ہوئے نکاح کرلیں، تو اُن کا کیا ہوا نکاح منعقد ہوجاتا ہے، خواہ والدین کی رضامندی ہو یا نہ ہو؛
